Anne Feighner's passionate dedication to education and her support of Bishop's Need-based Financial Aid Program are inspirational and significant. Having come from a modest background that instilled a deep love of learning, and an unrivaled passion for excellence in educating young people, she understands the power of education in transforming lives.
When Anne and her late husband John moved to California, they brought their passion for education to Bishop's. As the president of the Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2003 and an Honorary Lifetime Trustee, Anne was and is committed to advancing the Bishop's Financial Aid Program.
"When our daughter enrolled in the spring of 1987 our family immediately felt a part of the community of The Bishop's School. We are so blessed that Jennifer '93 and Scott '02 were able to have the advantage of the excellent academics, athletic programs and performing arts that we decided to support the School's Need-based Financial Aid Program. We have done so with a planned giving gift to the endowment and with an annual pledge to financial aid."
The Feighner's Financial Aid Endowment Fund was established in 2004 and receives annual family foundation gifts. It will also be supported by a generous future addition from the charitable remainder trust that they established. This tax-wise planning strategy offers a way to make a meaningful future gift to The Bishop's School, while simultaneously providing income for yourself and/or others. Benefits of a charitable remainder trust include:
- Income for life; support for your spouse or other beneficiaries
- Potential for growth of income over time
- Investment diversification
- No capital gains tax on gifts of appreciated assets
- Charitable income tax deduction
- Gift and estate tax savings
- Significant future support for causes you hold dear
As Anne can attest, planned giving strategies, such as the charitable remainder trust offer amazing opportunities to create legacies and transform lives. Please click here
